Book Review

“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds.” – Nicholas Sparks

Remy Merced, of ‘Love You So Sweetly’ by Tara Lain, is so busy with work, that he hardly has time to breathe. Seeing how overworked he is, Remy’s mother hires an administrative assistant for him, because she figures that he will never do it himself. She’s hoping that it will ease the load on Remy so he will have some much-needed downtime.

Harper Treadwell, Remy’s new assistant, is the son of a friend of his mother’s from back home in Arkansas. Remy notices how attractive Harper is, but insists he doesn’t need him. Harper, who is excited to work for Remy, is disappointed when Remy tells him this and is prepared to go back home. Remy decides that, even though he doesn’t need Harper’s help, there is enough work for others in the company, to keep him busy. Harper is capable of doing so much more, but it’s better than nothing.

Harper has come there with his boyfriend, an older businessman who hooked up with Harper after he found out that he would be working for Remy’s company. He is more interested in obtaining company secrets than he is in Harper, although Harper doesn’t know that. When Harper refuses to give in and tell his boyfriend what he has learned, he is furious. They have a huge argument and Harper leaves. Without anywhere else to go, Harper finds himself at Remy’s door, but when Remy opens it, Harper sees that he’s not alone. Remy’s girlfriend is there wearing nothing but one of his shirts.

Remy and Harper are wonderful characters, both of whom needed to learn that happiness only comes when you can be yourself. Freedom comes with risks, but the results are so worth it. Thanks, Tara, for helping Remy and Harper find that what truly matters, is love.
