Survive the adventure. Live to love.

Following a family emergency, snowboarder Tevyn Moore and financier Mallory Armstrong leave Donner Pass in a blizzard… and barely survive the helicopter crash that follows. Stranded with few supplies and no shelter, Tevyn and Mallory—and their injured pilot—are forced to rely on each other.

The mountain leaves no room for evasion, and Tevyn and Mal must confront the feelings that have been brewing between them for the past five years. Mallory has seen Tevyn through injury and victory. Can Tevyn see that Mallory’s love is real?

Mallory’s job is risk assessment. Tevyn’s job is full-on risk. But to stay alive, Mallory needs to take some gambles and Tevyn needs to have faith in someone besides himself. Can the bond they discover on the mountain see them to rescue and beyond?

Book Review

I love winter. The cold and the snow. Hot chocolate, roaring fire, homemade chowder… all of it. Of course, my liking of that season is predicated on the fact that I don’t have to leave my home very often, and I’m safe and warm at all times. This is not the situation Tevyn and Mallory find themselves in, however. They end up perched precariously on the side of a mountain in their crashed helicopter, during a blizzard, while their good friend, Damien, who is also the pilot, has a broken leg with the bone jutting through the skin… oh and their helicopter is sliding off the rock face.

Mallory is everything I love. He’s kind, gentle, considerate, loving, has a logical mind, and truly cares about his clients. Granted, he’s been in love with Tevyn practically since the young man stepped into his office five years ago with his grandmother, but Tevyn isn’t the only professional athlete Mallory’s company represents and he makes a point of going to several of their competitions throughout the year. He’s just a nice, good man. Mallory feels the ten-year age gap means Tevyn could never be interested in stuffy, boring, three-piece-suit-wearing him, but he is so very wrong.

Tevyn is a professional snowboarder and the only two people in his life who’ve always stayed are his grandmother and Mallory. Tevyn isn’t as head-in-the-clouds as some might think, so he’s very aware of his grandmother’s deteriorating health. He is shocked that Mallory would fly all the way out from San Francisco to Donner Pass to tell him in person so Tevyn doesn’t have to be alone. Just one more reason Tevyn loves him. Tevyn may be a pro in a crazy profession but he is grounded in the important things and he wants a life with Mallory.

Even with the drama happening all around them, I never once lost sight of the fact that this story is about two men who have danced around each other for much too long. I really enjoyed the survival aspect of this story, but seeing these two men realize what they mean to each other – and express it – was the best part of this entire book for me. ‘Warm Heart’ is missing this author’s usual angst but sometimes it’s really nice just to read an old-fashioned love story and Amy Lane has definitely produced that with this latest release. I can’t wait for Damien and Preston’s story because I have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be amaze-balls!
