Book Review

Every single time I start a new novel in the ‘THIRDS’ series - at least since book five - I’m afraid it’s going to be the last one. Sometimes the author does a little tease (which isn’t fair, by the way) and I get the impression it could go either way. The reason I’m pointing this out is that this is book ten, people. TEN! This could be it. Or, not. I’m just grateful I’ve gotten ten fabulous books so even though I’m very selfish, if this is the finale… what a way to go!

Regardless of what the description says, and yes, there are some shenanigans and crazy spy/agent stuff that goes on, this book is all about the family that has been created these past four years. Dex and Sloane, Ash and Cael, Calvin and Hobbs, Rosa and Letty, Seb and Hudson, and the guys they pulled in from Seb’s unit, West, Dom, Angel, and Taylor, not to mention Tony and Austen. They’re family bound in so many ways and it’s always wonderful to be back with them. The fact that Dex and Sloane are getting married just made for more moments where the author made me feel, and oh, the emotions.

The shenanigans involving the crazy spy/agent stuff as I mentioned earlier, are fabulous! The Makhai, the Therian based group out to destroy all hybrids like Dex, are back and with a vengeance. Unfortunately, for them, they’ve hit far too close to home, not just to Dex but to Wolf as well, and Dex will burn the city to the ground for vengeance if needs be, and with a master assassin kind of, sort of, on their side, who knows what catastrophes can occur? The best part of this portion of the story for me was watching the team come together, do what they do best, and protect and care for everyone in their family, whether by blood or not.

If this is the final THIRDS book then all I can say is WOW. There were some serious truths that erupted at the end involving Wolf, Sparks, and Dex. And of course Dex and Sloane couldn’t possibly get married without the Makhai sending an army to the estate in order to kill them. The Chairman wasn’t happy he lost their last battle. I should have known these guys would have suspense, mystery, and action right up until their “I dos”.

I loved every wonderful, heartbreaking moment in ‘Tried & True’. If the author never takes it any further then, in my opinion, the ending was perfect. However, something tells me I haven’t seen the last of the Dayleys. There is much to be done working for TIN and I hope the author feels the same way. I like to believe that this book ended this chapter in their lives but that they’ll be back with more stories to tell.
