Book Blurb

Santa’s never brought Mathew gifts until Justin, a flight attendant scared of flying, drops into his life.

It’s bad enough entertaining a total stranger for the Christmas holidays, but when that stranger turns out to be as loud and obnoxious as Justin Peasbody, Mathew knows he’s in for a rough time.  Coming on the heels of Mathew’s year of self-imposed seclusion following his previous disastrous relationship, maybe Justin is precisely what Mathew needs to help him celebrate a really hot Christmas.

Book Review

Breakups can make people do strange things, and Mathew’s self-imposed seclusion is probably one of the more extreme reactions. I mean – going to live on an extinct volcano in Australia? A year later he has turned into a somewhat grumpy hermit, so when his cousin sends her son, Justin, to spend a hot Australian Christmas with Mathew, followed by an unannounced visit of three of his friends, Mathew has no idea what to do. He can’t exactly remember how to be hospitable, but he has no choice unless he wants to kick them out, so he muddles through.

Mathew and Justin rub each other the wrong way from the start. Mathew does not want to see anyone – Justin hadn’t thought things through and expects a white Christmas. Mathew wants to enjoy his peace and quiet – Justin likes to talk and when he complains, everyone knows about it. Then Mathew cannot help but begin to like Justin and Justin returns the feelings – and neither of them has a plan. Oh boy!

If you like a “hot Christmas” in every sense of the word, if you want to see how two men who seem to have nothing in common slowly figure out they might get along a lot better than they expected, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read that will hopefully make you grin, then you might like this short story.
