Book Blurb

A gift for every single reader needed to know what happened next for to Jack, Riley and their family.

When Hayley arrived on the steps of the D, Riley and Jack knew life would never be the same.

Told through Riley and Jack’s eyes, this is ten years in the life of their family and watching Hayley grow up, fall in love, and start her own life. Hurricanes, illness, babies, happiness, sadness, work, play, the barn, the office, horses, friends, enemies, and above all love.

Book Review

This one, as they say, is for the fans. And since I cannot get enough of Riley and Jack, I really appreciate this “extra” glimpse into their life – and Hayley’s, as she gets ready to leave for college and all the events that follow. The story is told in little vignettes of Riley and Jack’s lives, a style the author has used throughout the series. I loved each and every one of them – some funny, some sad, and all very emotional.

I’m not going to say too much about the events themselves. They will mean much to fans, as they did to me. From encounters in the barn to barbecues, birthday celebrations to Hayley’s younger siblings dealing with her going to college, hurricanes and illness, business intrigue and shenanigans, it’s all there for the taking. And while I was really sad to see all the characters “for the last time”, as it were, the ending made sure that I felt satisfied to leave them to their own devices.

The one thing that became clear to me as I worked my way through this final volume is that I want to reread the entire series now. It took me from Riley and Jack becoming a couple to them adding to their little family over the years, and has now allowed me to say a reluctant, admittedly somewhat tearful goodbye. Epic is really the only word that comes to mind. What a ride!

If you like soap operas with extended families fighting and loving their way through life, if you want to watch true love between an oil man and a cowboy grow from a cold and almost hostile beginning, and if you’re looking for a series that will have you laugh and cry and everything in between, then you should give this one a go. I loved every page of it! Thank you, RJ, for all of it, but especially for this final installment. It was everything I hoped for.
