Book Blurb

For Jay’s thirtieth birthday, his straight best mate Brenden takes him to a gay bar. Great idea, except that it’s full of guys who think Jay would look great under them. Only one problem with that – Jay may look like a twink, but he’s no one’s bottom. And when he spies the gorgeous, muscled specimen at the end of the bar, he’s not about to waste his time. He knows a top when he sees one.

Dean has had enough of the guys who want him to be their Daddy. What makes it worse is that they’re just his type. Dean is under no illusions. He knows what he looks like. But there has to be one guy in that bar who wants to top him, right?

This is a revised edition of the story previously published as part of the anthology Designated Bottoms by Torquere Press. The story has been expanded by 5,600 words.

Book Review

This is a very entertaining story that made me laugh several times. The idea of “switching it up”, or trying something new, is shown in several different ways here. There is the main couple, Jay and Dean, but then there is Jay’s straight coworker Brenden as well, and he plays a very central role in getting Jay and Dean to see there might be more potential between them.

Jay’s thirtieth birthday is proceeding into uncharted territory when his straight mate from work takes him out for a drink in a gay bar. Jay is touched by the thoughtfulness, but isn’t having much luck. He doesn’t look like a Dom, so all the offers he gets are not quite what he is looking for. Brenden gets quite the education as he watches the proceedings! And when Jay finally does connect with Dean, he gets so caught up in the physical aspect of what he thinks of as a one-night stand that he panics and runs rather than explore things between them.

Dean is a foreman at a construction site and everyone assumes he is a top. He is beginning to give up hope when his luck turns and he meets Jay. The man is his exact physical type, small but well built, and a top! They get along really well, until Jay runs in the middle of the night and Dean feels alone and abandoned again. Until the man’s workmate turns up and has a proposition for Dean… and then things get very kinky!

If you like stories with a few surprises (the twist at the end it priceless!), if you enjoy reading about men who do not fit the usual stereotypes, and if you’re looking for a hot, entertaining read, then you will probably like this short story.
