Book Blurb

Lives of emptiness, never love, only lukewarm relationships. True ones could be found if one family would stop trying to kill the other.

Alpha and bear shifter, Silver Kodiak’s word is law. With seven feet of muscle and a bad attitude, he has no problem helping others see things his way. But muscle doesn’t work when he meets his soulmate. The little guy’s either leading him on a merry chase or is up in his face, demanding things.

Mikey Johnston may be tiny, but there isn’t a submissive bone in his body. Trust comes hard when he’s hunted all his life for having a purple moon birthmark. Meeting Silver fulfills his dreams. His cat doesn’t agree.

Between keeping the cat’s bloodshed to a minimum, enduring a pregnancy, eating everything in sight, being kidnapped, and going into labor in a hole, Mikey’s purpose in life becomes getting rid of all the white walls, flooring…. oh, and loving his true one.

Book Review

‘Silver and Mikey’ is the fabulous second story set in a world where bear shifters have been lied to for centuries and, as a result, finding their male soulmates has become impossible. More of the mystery behind the legends is lifted in this volume, new enemies emerge, and the fight for survival of those who want to follow the old rituals rises to a fever pitch. Among all the deception, intrigue, and dark machinations, human Mikey and alpha bear shifter Silver meet, figure out they are mates and have to figure out how a relationship will work between them. What with Silver being all dominant and Mikey being anything but submissive this is not an easy undertaking!

Mikey is one of Keaton’s formidable cousins, and when he lays eyes on Silver and figures out the huge man/bear shifter is out to dominate him, Mikey runs. Not the wisest decision he has ever made, and it doesn’t last long, but it does set the tone for a somewhat rocky relationship. Things get more complicated when he ends up pregnant, kidnapped, and in labor before he knows what hit him. Poor Mikey!

Silver is used to being obeyed, so Mikey turns out to be a real challenge for him. He is the alpha and his word is law, but he also wants Mikey to be happy. Silver has one heck of a learning curve! He also has to deal with a murderous housekeeper, a branch of the family with dark intentions, and Mikey’s cat wanting to kill him every time he so much as touches his mate. I did feel for Silver, but he bore everything with stoicism and was able to “mend his ways” just a little, so I ended up really liking him.

Silver and Mikey face challenges from inside and outside their mating, and while they get along physically, their emotional balance takes a while to establish. The further revelations about their feuding families and the lies they have been told are fascinating, and to find out who is behind all the evil still being perpetrated today was definitely interesting. I wonder what other revelations may await, as this world has definitely contained a few surprises so far, and I suspect there may be more.

If you like bear shifter matings with a battle for dominance, if you want to find out more about two families who were taught to hate and fear each other only to find out they are supposed to get along, and if you’re looking for a suspenseful, action-packed read set in an imaginative world, then you will probably like this novella.
