Book Blurb

After a devastating breakup with the man he thought he’d spend his life with, Flynn Webb takes a vacation to a South Dakota dude ranch. It’s something completely different from anything he’s done before, and it helps that it’s as far away from his ex as possible. Trapped in his own depressive thoughts, Flynn is surprised to meet Grayson Harland. Not only is Grayson a sexy cowboy—one fifteen years younger—but he’s the most charming man Flynn has ever met.

Flynn doesn’t have much experience with being seduced, and he has even less with guys like Grayson taking an interest in him—and Grayson is definitely interested. What begins as a fling while visiting iconic South Dakota sights soon develops the potential for much more. But Flynn is afraid that falling in love again so soon—and with a man so much younger—will lead only to another catastrophic heartbreak. Luckily for them both, Grayson isn’t giving up without a fight.

States of Love: Stories of romance that span every corner of the United States.

Book Review

‘Rushing Love’ is a very accurate title - calling Flynn and Grayson’s story a whirlwind romance is probably an understatement. They take one look at each other and Grayson, at least, is sure that he has met the man he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Flynn wants to do the same thing, but he is more of a thinker and has rarely acted on impulse, probably never. He is fifteen years older than Grayson, and after the recent breakup with his boyfriend of nineteen years has left him depressed and not the best judge of character. Watching these two guys figure things out was a lot of fun, and the very well portrayed setting of South Dakota added a layer of realism and interest that I really enjoyed.

Flynn, who is a software developer and lives in New York, has done something unusual by going on a vacation in South Dakota. Yes, he thought about it for a month, but it was a carefully considered action. When he meets Grayson at the dude ranch, Flynn is lost almost immediately. The attraction to Grayson is intense, but Flynn is a thinker and not one to follow his heart. Or so he thought. Getting to know Grayson and realizing how much the younger man wants him, makes Flynn reconsider some of his long-held beliefs. After all, they made him end up with an ex who is controlling, selfish, and a cheater.

Grayson loves working with horses and showing tourists how to ride a horse. He runs the ranch with his brother and has never acted unprofessionally toward a guest. Flynn changes all of that, and Grayson goes all out to “woo” him. But Grayson also has a secret, and he can only hope that Flynn will forgive him for keeping it – for a while.

If you like stories where the main characters fall for each other at first sight, if you want to see some of the gorgeous scenery of South Dakota through the author’s eyes, and if you’re looking for a read that is sweet, entertaining, and focusses on two very passionate men, then you will probably like this novella.
