Remy Sean Has Run Away!

The entertainment media is buzzing for the gory details of his story, but Remy Sean only wants to hide from the press. He’s too traumatized to sing or explain.

Jed Riley is willing to let Remy hide out on his ranch, but only as a way to get his father, Remy’s manager, out of Jed’s life and business for good. What Jed doesn’t know is that long before he was a superstar, Remy had a secret crush on him.

They are opposites. Jed is a country cowboy to Remy’s rock ‘n’ roll. Worse, Jed sees Remy as a spoiled pop star and an extension of his father’s control.

Used to being admired, Remy feels the sting of Jed’s dismissal. Yet he also feels the chemistry between them whenever Jed comes near. Jed, meanwhile, doesn’t believe somebody desired by so many fans could want him.

Remy is determined to change Jed’s mind and steal his heart. But will one of the biggest pop stars in the world be able to convince a simple cowboy to give their love a chance?

Book Review

Rugged, stubborn, somewhat surly cowboy meets smooth, spoiled, desperately lonely rock star in this entertaining, opposites attract story. The main characters have history that not both of them remember and they rub each other the wrong way from the start. Neither of them can deny the underlying attraction though, but both of them have their own battles to fight as well as figure out what the heck might be between them. They have a very rocky (pun intended) start, but since there is something about a cowboy and a rock star coming together that is fascinating, I was as willing to stick it out as they were. Well, most of the time.

Jed loves his ranch, is dedicated to his horses, and is far lonelier than he is willing to admit. He is also not ready to compromise in order to find companionship, and that makes everything twice as tough. He only lets Remy onto his land to get his father to finally give up his half of the land to Jed, and faced with the reality of a spoiled rock star in his hair every single day for weeks to come, Jed is not sure it is worth the sacrifice. But there is also something about Remy that makes Jed wonder if they might get along and the more he finds out about the real Remy underneath the rock star persona, the more interested Jed becomes.

Remy is in deep emotional trouble after fans physically attacked him on stage, but he refuses to let on how much it has affected him. He can’t even write songs or enjoy his music any longer. Remy has been taught how to present himself, how to dress and what to do since he was twelve, so maintaining a façade has become his default position – even if he is desperate for help. Going on an extended vacation to a place he loved as a kid seems like a good idea until he realizes that Jed does not remember him. Remy has not had an easy life with his mother dying at birth and his father passing away when he was a young teenager, and his one relationship was with an emotionally abusive guy. Remy is desperate to find a way to connect with Jed on a deeper level, but it takes quite some doing!

Both men have pasts they need to deal with before they can move forward, they are both skittish and scared to show their vulnerabilities, and the fact that they seem to be opposites might actually work out to their advantage once they open up just a little. Spending time on the ranch together helps them build some trust, but it’s a lot of “one step forward, two steps back” before they can find common ground and a way to relate to each other. Once they do it is still hard, but at least they are determined to find a way to work together and willing to open up little by little.

If you like difficult relationships with lots of emotional obstacles, if opposites who have more in common than they think are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that can be as entertaining as it is frustrating, with a somewhat unexpected solution, then you will probably like this novel.
