Book Blurb

Ten years ago, Logan left me. He told me that two Alphas cannot be together, he told me that our mating wasn’t real.
Yesterday, my sister called me and told me that Logan passed away, leaving behind an Omega and a child.
Today, I’m at Logan’s funeral. Why am I offering to look after his little family?

Logan and I had everything we wanted: a house, a beautiful daughter and lots of big dreams. Then he was ripped away from us in a car crash.
His family is too busy to help me out after the funeral, so one of Logan’s old friends steps in.
Only, in all the commotion, I didn’t keep an eye on the calendar, and my heat starts at the most inconvenient of times.
And why is Logan’s friend reacting to my heat? Only true mates are supposed to react to a mated Omega...

Book Review

This is another story in the past couple of months that I have read that deals with alphas, omegas, and mpreg, and yet, none of these characters are shifters. I believe the description is "omegaverse". I'm finding it interesting, although it definitely doesn't grasp my attention the way paranormal, mpreg stories do. However, I do enjoy different, and this new-to-me genre is certainly that.

The fact that it's been ten years since Logan walked away from Wilder, regardless that Wilder carries Logan's mating mark, doesn't lessen Wilder's pain when he finds out that Logan has been killed in an accident. Coming to the funeral is hard, especially as Wilder can't let Logan's parents see him, but coming face-to-face with Sterling and Maddy, Logan's omega and their daughter, is the hardest part of all. Because Wilder knows exactly the kind of parents Logan's are, he agrees to stay for a week with Sterling and Maddy, so they don't have to be alone.

Sterling isn't surprised by Logan's parents, not at all. Logan despised their attitudes regarding needing an alpha heir to leave the family business to, and since Sterling hasn't produced one, yet, they think even less of him than they always have. Sterling doesn't know who this "friend" of Logan's is and he's confused by why this man would be willing to help him and Maddy, when Logan's parents can't be bothered. It doesn't matter. Sterling is facing loneliness and he figures having some help for a week will be nice.

“I’m so confused. It hurts so much. Not just him being really gone, like really really. But why did he tell me he had to move on, and then he lives in the house that we wanted together? How can he live in my house with a mate who isn’t me?” My breath shudders, my chest aching...... I don’t care that I’m an Alpha, this was supposed to be my life, this is what Logan and I planned for all those years ago, and now… Why did he leave?"

In this world, mating bite marks only remain visible if it's your true mate, and an alpha can only have a child with their true mate. So, how come Wilder still has his mating mark, but Logan was able to mate with Sterling and have Maddy? Even weirder is when Sterling goes into heat, Wilder takes care of him, ends up mating him, and somehow Wilder is just as affected by his heat almost as if Sterling is his true mate.

A lot of questions the author raised in this first book to the series. Overall, I very much enjoyed the worldbuilding. I had some difficulty with quite a few editing errors and hope to not see those repeated in the next installment. I was certainly intrigued enough by the plot to continue reading further in the series.
