Book Blurb

Jeremiah Overton is now in charge of Darwin’s Bureau of Meteorology, and his storm chaser boyfriend, Tully Larson, couldn’t be happier. For Tully, it means watching summer storms with the love of his life but for Jeremiah, it means relearning everything on equipment that’s older than he is.

But summer storms also mean it’s cyclone season. While Tully’s no stranger to tropical storms and the occasional cyclone, for Jeremiah, it’s a first.

As Tropical Cyclone Hazer bears down on the city, Jeremiah and Tully prepare to stay behind. Jeremiah knows what to expect, theoretically, but living through it is a different story.

If they live through it at all.

Book Review

“Even if there is a cyclone around you, believe that everything is gonna be alright!” ~  Md. Ziaul Haque

Jeremiah, of 'Into the Tempest' by N.R. Walker, inadvertently "falls" into the position of director at the Darwin Bureau of Meteorology. The current director, Doreen, has been waiting for her replacement for years. When Jeremiah walks in and introduces himself, she assumes that the company sent him. It is not what he expected to happen, but since it makes it possible for him to stay with Tully, he accepts it as a twist of fate.

Tully is ecstatic that Jeremiah is staying and vows to do everything he can to make it bearable. One of the significant challenges to a smooth transition is the station's equipment. It needs a major overhaul. Fortunately, Doreen doesn't desert him. She is an invaluable resource, explaining how the equipment works, or not, filling in when necessary, and, although retired, she is there to support Jermiah.

While settling in, Tully decides it would be an excellent time to "christen" the front counter. As they get into it, the bureau's machines start beeping. Their first instinct is to ignore the noise, but Jeremiah decides it would be best to check. What he sees on the screen takes his breath away. The screen shows a cyclone of monstrous proportions and it is headed straight for Darwin.

'Into the Tempest' is an exciting whirlwind of emotions and circumstances from terrifying to loveable. Once again, Jeremiah and Tully prevail, meeting almost impossible odds with intellect, imagination, and intensity. I adore Tully’s family and how they include Jeremiah in the fold, while letting him set the pace of that inclusion. My favorite character in this book is, of course, the magpie, Mr. Percival.

Thank you, N.R., for another brilliant book in the series. I look forward to book three.
