He will fight for the one he loves, no matter what it takes.

Cesare Bianco is a shifter without a pride. Exiled from his home town of Padua after losing a leadership fight to his corrupt, self-serving uncle, he travels to Rome in search of a new beginning. A chance meeting sees him taking a job on the catering crew of a Hollywood blockbuster. When he meets the movie’s handsome lead actor, Hayden, he knows he’s in the presence of his mate. But Hayden is human. Even though he offers the possibility of lasting love, Cesare must fight all his instincts to make it happen.

Hayden Skarz is on the verge of the big time. Landing the lead in sci-fi adventure Thrown to the Lions has put him on the road to stardom. Filming in Rome is a difficult new challenge for him, though being around Cesare, the hunk who works in the catering truck, makes his job much sweeter. Sex between them is passionate and wildly inventive. But Hayden has a stalker, who’s tired of being ignored in favor of other men. When what started as a crush turns into murderous obsession, can Cesare help Hayden make it off the film set alive?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence and bondage.

Book Review

‘Into the Arena’ continues the very entertaining and always suspenseful ‘Lionhearts’ series with a new international location for every volume. This time the story is set in Italy, and follows up-and-coming actor Hayden (the man who propositioned Ethan in the previous book) from Los Angeles, and lion-without-a-pride Cesare from Padua. Watching Hayden work on set is interesting, especially since most of it takes place in Rome, and with Cesare as part of the support group there are plenty of opportunities for them to have fun – and provide the stalker with material for occasional interventions that gradually grow hostile. What a sneaky bast*rd!

Cesare works hard in his father’s restaurant in Padua, wants to do the right thing, and believes in honesty. When he finds out that his uncle, the current leader of the local pride, is none of those things, he is goaded into a leadership fight. Of course the uncle cheats and wins, exiles Cesare, and forces him to look for a new beginning. Where better than Rome to do that, right? Having accepted a job as part of the catering crew, Cesare sets out to explore, only to run into his mate on the first day on location. Except – the man who exudes the delicious smell is a human, and Cesare is not at all sure that is even possible. Not that it matters – Cesare falls fast and hard.

Hayden has just landed the leading role in Thrown to the Lions, a sci-fi movie involving time travel back to Ancient Rome. Hence, the lions. Hayden has just come out of a relationship that never actually worked, but everything with Cesare is very different from the very beginning. They can’t be open about being together while on the set without jeopardizing Hayden’s budding career, but what they get up to in Hayden’s trailer and his hotel is very, very hot.

Neither of them knows what will become of their beginning relationship after the movie is finished, but they hardly have the time to worry about that. The stalker who began following Hayden in Rome is changing his tune, and soon Hayden’s life is threatened. Of course, Cesare is determined to keep him safe, but that isn’t as easy as it sounds.

If you enjoy following actors, so to speak, as they make a movie, if you think that a lonely exiled lion shifter and a man in the public spotlight deserve a chance together, and if you’re looking for a suspenseful read that has a couple of twists and turns, then you will probably like this novel.
