In Inferno, passion burns hotter than hell…
After the murder of a notorious rent boy in the relatively new gay nightclub Inferno, Moonlight Cove cop Zack Stewart and his partner Claire Keaton are presented with a bewildering array of suspects, all with links to the dead man.
Zack’s chief suspect is arrogant club owner Dante Jardine, a man not so easy to unravel, and even more difficult to pin down. Soon the cops are knee-deep in bodies and Zack’s priorities become more muddled the longer he is around Dante.
When his professional and personal lives begin to merge, Zack finds himself walking a dangerous road between being a good cop and giving in to his growing desire…
NOTE: This book is a re-release of an original title.
This book is exactly as hot as the title implies. No, actually, it is hotter. And I don’t mean just the two main characters, Zack and Dante, and how they are ready to tear each other's clothes off and then some each time they have a run-in. No, it is the whole situation they find themselves in with a serial killer, as well as the numerous mistakes Zack makes. An extremely inflammable combination!
Zack is a detective, and he has some very definite ideas about who the serial killer may or may not be. There is nothing wrong with that in principle, except Zack doesn’t use this to lead his investigation into the death of several rent boys. He doesn’t even really look for evidence. Instead he lets his suspicions cloud his judgment which leads to all kinds of issues. Add his gut-wrenching attraction to Dante to the mix, who is - you guessed it - none other than Zack's leading suspect, and you have a huge mess. An infernal mess, in fact.
Dante is a club owner, arrogant, dominant, and doesn’t much care what people think about him. At least, that is what he wants people to think and, for the most part, he succeeds. If it wasn't for his underlying vulnerability, he'd be totally insufferable. He comes close enough as it is! He thinks it’s enough for him to know he is innocent and that, eventually, Zack will see it too. Instead of defending himself, or even just answering Zack’s questions, he believes Zack will see the light and declare him innocent – just because Dante is so obviously not a murderer. Um. Could have fooled me!
If you like your stories on the gritty side and with more than a few twists, if hot men who make mistakes then have to pay for them are your thing, and if the flames of lust tormenting the characters get you inflamed as well, you will probably like this novel.
