Book Blurb

Craft store owner Grant has always been a sucker for a pretty face, and that goes double for a pretty face with an adorable sidekick. When seven-year-old Aubrey has her heart set on taking Grant’s already-full holiday craft series, he caves and gives up his one day off a week so she (and her hot guardian, Josh) can take private lessons. Their flirting ramps up week after week, and even though Josh isn’t with Aubrey’s mother, Grant can’t be sure the man isn’t straight. Maybe he’s just being friendly. And Josh, who most definitely is not straight, is afraid of being the creepy guy hitting on the teacher.

Frustrated by their stubbornness and cluelessness, Aubrey takes matters into her own hands. She decides the best gift to give Josh is something homemade and from the heart—a boyfriend they’ll both love.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2017 Advent Calendar "Stocking Stuffers."

Book Review

“Some gifts are big. Others are small. But the ones that come from the heart is the best gift at all.” ~ Tinku Razoria

Christmas time is the busiest time of the year for Grant, but he loves owning a craft store, even when things are a bit out of control. Grant's craft classes are completely full and have been for some time, much to the dismay of some of his customers. Even so, when little Aubrey, accompanied by Josh, comes in, Grant is entranced by the beautiful little girl and her male companion, and forgoes all reasoning. Instead of telling them no, as he has everyone else who inquires, he promises that he will help Aubrey with her crafts, even though it will have to be on Sunday's, Grant's only day off.

Aubrey may be young, but she has a good eye for design and color.  All three of them get involved in making Christmas presents for everyone in her family. Aubrey is also observant. She watches as Josh and Grant interact and seems to understand the meaning of it, even before they seem to. Grant is convinced that he has a crush on a straight guy who is Aubrey's father. Josh doesn't seem to know what to do after flirting. Aubrey knows they want to be involved but neither is willing to make the first move. Secretly, she decides to “help” with their decisions to, what she believes, will bring about the best Christmas possible for Josh and Grant.

This is an endearing story about two men brought together by a precocious young girl who, in some ways, is sharper than they are. I loved Grant, Josh, and Aubrey and was delighted with the way the story unfolded, keeping me in suspense about what role he played in Aubrey's life. Thanks, Bru, for this entertaining, sweet story. So far, it's my favorite of all the Advent Calendar series.
