Book Blurb

Sam and Reese exchanged valentines when they were children, neither realizing how much those simple cards would impact their lives. When fate brings both together again as adults, what started as a friendship grows into more. They celebrate every year on the day that brought them together, Valentine’s Day by reading from their first Valentine’s and looking back on all the events that have shaped their lives as a couple. Valentine’s Day brings them more love and happiness than they could ever have imagined all those years ago.

Book Review

Sometimes children have deep friendships that could become more when they are adults – but in Sam and Reese’s case, for the longest time it didn’t look as though it was meant to be. I can’t even imagine the heartbreak Sam felt when Reese moved away the day after Sam gave him a Valentine card asking him to be more than a friend. In Sam’s mind, even years later, Reese rejected him in the worst way possible by just leaving without a word.

Luckily their story doesn’t end there, and this short read is all about how they find each other again years later, how they build on what they had as kids, and how they recover from what was a disaster for both of them. The author shows little snapshots of their life, most of them Valentine’s Days since they have always been so significant for both men. The result is a very sweet tale that had me wanting to find out more about them while it lasted, and breathing a huge sigh of relief when it ended.

If you like your Valentine’s stories sweet and emotional, if you think that two childhood friends can become more despite a painful separation of several years, and if you’re looking for “all the feels” that can come with deep love and devotion, then you will probably like this free short story.
