BOOK BLURB:
Steven Macklin wakes up in a ditch one morning in foul, wet weather with no idea where he is or how he came to be there. He’s seriously injured but struggles across bleak heathland to find shelter. The only house he can find appears weather-beaten and deserted, although he’s too sensible a guy to fall for the cliché of a spooky ghost mansion ~ isn’t he? But when he collapses and is taken into the house by the handsome Eliot, he finds himself in a very disturbing situation - and also in the bed of this strange, very possessive man.

BOOK REVIEW:
“His Gift” by Clare London is a haunting, sensual ghost story. It is very evocative of a popular movie a few years back. I can’t reveal the movie title without giving away the surprising ending. Inspired by a movie or not, this tale is well written with a great twist at the end.

The otherworldly atmosphere is very vivid. The strange gloomy house, the mysterious, passionate man who lives in the house, and the narrator who has only faint memories of his life before waking up in a ditch. The narrator tells the story in first person, which gives the tale an added weird and wonderful dimension. Yes, first person can be a bit off-putting, in this tale it is effective.

There is plenty of intense sex. It is well written and very erotic. There is nothing too exotic, rather the sex is romantic and very passionate.

As haunting and sensual as this story is, there is also an underlying sense of psychological horror that builds steadily to the surprise ending. The suspense is palpable and like any good horror tale, not everything is what it seems nor is everything completely explained, some things are left to your imagination.

Overall, an enjoyable paranormal story.
