BOOK BLURB:
When Lys goes missing, Meco must leave his land and his other lovers behind to search for him. His travels lead him first to an old enemy who has betrayed Meco and the Novigi, and then to a toan where he discovers that the Salters and the Domers have joined forces.
Captured by the very people he suspects of having taken Lys, Meco is questioned and tortured in the Salter’s effort to discover the Novigi secrets. Will Meco be able to not only rescue Lys, but protect his land and the people he loves? Or is he doomed at the hands of the Salters?
BOOK REVIEW:
Lee Benoit is an astounding author. This fourth installment of the "Servant of the Seasons" story is the most dramatic, darkest, and also the most comfortably erotic of the stories.
By now I am fully used to the idea (reinforced by direct discussion with the author) that the erotica in the story is intentionally and methodically tied to the personal awakening of the stories' main protagonist, Méco. I still strongly believe that the work could do without ANY overt detail about sexual activity ~ and I believe this because the story is so good and is so well told. In my case, in fact, I found myself mostly skimming through the erotica in order to find out what was coming next (no pun intended).
That aside, the story is again very good, though this time less about gradually revealing the mysteries of the Novigi and more about the previously undiscussed "Domers". The story satisfies in itself, but it ends without even trying to neatly tie up the unresolved conflicts. It left me wanting to read and savor much more about this fascinating future world that has been created by this very promising young author.
While there may be only four seasons, I sincerely hope that there will be more "Servant of the Seasons".
