Ven is still working as Toby's main contractor, flipping houses, and this time around there's more than one project going on. Toby has someone else working on his Cinderella house, an old place that needs a lot of work, but when that contractor falls behind, Toby knows Ven is the man for the job.

Ven is happy to help out with a house Toby loves so much, but he knows he might need more work to keep him and his family afloat. BOOK REVIEW:
Toby finds himself in a dangerous position, with two houses under renovations at once. Ven is working on one of Toby’s houses as well as a “six-plex by the river”. Toby hired another contractor, Mr. Bartlett, to work on his “Cinderella house” but on day 20 the man is fired. The job is seriously behind schedule and the work that has been done is shoddy at best.

When Ven hears of the troubles at Toby’s other job site, he immediately starts thinking of how he can bail Toby out, before even thinking of what to charge. Ven is exasperated on principle and is seriously pissed that someone would try to take advantage of Toby. When Ven is offered a permanent job by Martha, owner of the six-plex, he must decide what is best for him and his family and how close he would be willing to work with Toby.

Playing House is a very enjoyable story filled with wonderful characters. There is an easy affection between Toby and Ven. The men are intensely attracted to each other, both their bodies and their minds. Although Ven is ten years Toby’s junior, the men see the same potential when looking at a house. This story is all about taking their relationship to the next step, and as it grows stronger the men grow closer each day. They are increasingly more comfortable with each other, leading to quite pleasurable exchanges. They are building a partnership, in many different ways, and the result is a captivating and sweetly romantic story with fun and erotic sex scenes.

In this story, we get a bit more background about Toby and Ven, learning what makes them who they are. Their family backgrounds in particular are a bit surprising and explain quite a bit about these men. As they learn more about each other, they realize they have more in common than they thought. A favorite character of mine is Ven’s brother Vashon, affectionately known as Cake. The man is special in so many ways and he is the epitome of innocent and real.

This is the second in the Chaser series of three books and I highly recommend starting with the first story Flipping Out. I am anxiously awaiting the third story and wonder what the conclusion will have in store for Toby and Ven. This is a light-hearted series that is quite enjoyable and a must read!
