BOOK BLURB:
A heart attack leaves Miles wrangling with a slow recovery and a quiet retreat, just one cabin down from wounded warrior Drew. Although he's unhappy to have his solitude invaded, Drew finds himself fascinated with Miles, but he can't bring himself to push aside his skittish nerves. Both men fear rejection for different reasons, and it will take a real change of heart to seek the acceptance they crave.

BOOK REVIEW:
Miles has come to spend time at a friend's lakeside cabin to fully recuperate from his heart attack and subsequent surgery. Away from all the stress factors in his life sounds good from a medical standpoint but Miles isn't very happy having to give up his computer, cell phone, fax and even TV for a few weeks. Miles finds his boredom disappearing when he sees his neighbor sunbathing. The sexy guy from the next cabin doesn't seem to have a problem putting himself on display and even though he's not close enough to see full details Miles develops a fascination for the man.

Drew is himself recovering from a horrific trauma and has no interest in getting to know his neighbor. It's bad enough for him that Kurt, Miles' doctor and Drew's friend, convinced him to keep an eye out on Miles. But since Drew used to be a doctor he can't turn down Kurt's request, no matter how much he'd like to ignore Miles. So the days pass with barely any interaction between the men other than Miles watching Drew and Drew ignoring Miles. Nevertheless the pull between them is strong and eventually they're forced together when the cabin Miles is staying in is damaged during a storm. Drew opens his home to the other man and eventually they are unable to conceal their growing mutual attraction.

Miles and Drew have both been forced to make changes in their lives and the care with which the author presents these changes and how the men handled them was really well done. I liked both of them and enjoyed reading the slow development of their relationship. Over the weeks we see their mutual attraction continue to grow as well as respect and understanding. This is not a 'meet and quickly fall into bed' story rather it's a well written story of two men slowly developing feelings and finally, when they are both ready, acting on those feelings.

While there is plenty of sexual tension between the men there is very little actual sex and that works really well for the story. The emphasis is on the characters themselves and their poignant story was beautifully told. If there is one thing that I was a bit disappointed with it was the ending. It's a HFN ending that leaves one with the hope of a happy future for them but it felt very abrupt and caught me by surprise. Overall however I really liked this story and recommend it to anyone looking for a well written romance.
