BOOK BLURB:
After a horrible car accident, Guillermo “Guy” Rivera doesn’t even remember who he is. Suffering from amnesia, bound to a wheelchair with a broken arm and a broken leg, he relies on his in-home caregiver, Dane Mathis, to help him with everything from bathing to eating. Guy wants Dane to be more than just a caregiver, but Dane keeps his distance.
Six months after their relationship ended, Dane Mathis drops everything to help Guy put his life back together. It’s difficult to treat Guy like a stranger, but he knows he must not give in to his deep desires. He won’t risk Guy’s anger by revealing the true nature of their relationship. Or the reality of their past together.
Even so, Dane can’t help but hope that this is their second chance at love ...
BOOK REVIEW:
This book was awesome. The character Dane at first was very frustrating because Guy wanted to love him and Dane kept pulling away and it seemed as if Dane was going to leave, but then it comes out what had happened and why things were the way they were. I think Dane was just being overly cautious about being with Guy because of what happened in the past. I felt Dane's pain when he was with Guy not wanting to overstep his bounds with him. The character of Guy, I almost felt sorry for him for what he had gone through, the accident and then the recovery.
It didn't come out immediately why Dane was even there. I was rather disappointed at first but then it became clear why he was there with Guillermo. It took Dane some time to get over his inner demon, feelings with his former addiction, and not wanted to put Guy through pain again and also not wanting the pain himself of Guy remembering what was going on.
The only criticism I have is the way Guy remembered things. It was all of a sudden, "I remember now." I would have loved to see Guy remembering things more slowly, such as their first kiss or the first time they made love.
Also the character of Oliver, Pepper really made me dislike this person. I think if I would have seen him on the street, I would have punched him. How could anyone be so shallow as to not help a lover/partner get back to health, telling him you are too busy?
Overall, I recommend this book highly.
