BOOK BLURB:
Aric Christian is the wildly smart PhD candidate specializing in Molecular Biology. With a willowy body bordering on thin, slight hips, and even slighter waist, Aric's hard muscles and steel strength bends but doesn't break. Long blackish hair dips in his hazel eyes when he's not wearing his rimless glasses. At times, he turns into quite a different creature, and is working desperately to seek a cure.
Stu Hamilton is the wildly popular college wide receiver, and big man on campus. He's tall, broad shouldered, finely tuned and has broad hands, perfect to jump and catch the ball. He's all muscle and grace and blue, blue eyes. Mussed blond hair layered and tapered down to his nape fuels his reputation as the guy who breezes through life. Hidden from his friends is his family's secret - he's from a long line of vampire-slayers. Turning away from that life, he wants nothing to do with blood feuds, men of the dark night and killing.
Then Aric bumps into Stu, or rather his football, and their lives are forever intertwined. Will these born enemies find a way toward love?
BOOK REVIEW:
I loved Viki Lyn’s Last Chance. The author has taken what we know about vampires and changed it up. No longer your typical blood suckers; there are a new variety of vampires, one of which is the strix, who infect their victims with a transfer of bodily fluids. When Aric becomes infected, the Molecular Biology grad student hopes to find a cure before it’s too late. He never plans on running into someone like Stu, or finding out that the young football player comes from a long line of vampire hunters. While the attraction between these two is hot and intense, it is not the fact that they are natural enemies that work to keep them apart, but Aric’s fear of getting hurt again. As the author introduces Stu’s brother, and the vampire that turned Aric, the story the action picks up and soon the two men have to battle more than their feelings for each other.
Aric’s fears are understandable as his choice of men has not always been wise. Afraid of falling once again for a straight man he tries to keep Stu at arm’s length, something that the reader will find believable. Rather than accepting his sudden feelings for a man, the author has also allowed Stu to feel some confusion over his desire for Aric, as well as guilt over abandoning his family heritage. As the men come to terms with the changes in their lives the reader can’t help but hope everything works out for them.
If you love vampire stories pick this one up. The passion between the main characters as well as the snappy dialog and intriguing secondary characters make this one a story not to be missed. If we are lucky a sequel won’t be too far behind.
