BOOK BLURB:
Trinn Wells is an award-winning chef in one of the finest hotel restaurants in Boston. She should be content, but she's not. She hates her boss, her ex-girlfriend has left her in debt, she finds it impossible to meet her mother's expectations, and she's having strange dreams that disturb her sleep.
Sidney Wycombe is a prestigious London solicitor driven to preserve the memory of a place that no longer exists. When she tries to convince Trinn to help her in her efforts, Trinn hesitates, but finally arrives in London looking forward to an all-expenses paid holiday, a respite from her troubles.
As Sidney reveals the knowledge and lore of Briarcrest, Trinn's dreams become an alternate reality where she meets a man known only as Catty. As Trinn becomes more involved in Catty's world, she discovers that not everything is as it seems at the Briarcrest of old. When she learns Catty is involved in some very dangerous activities, the two women from the future begin to worry for Trinn's safety.
While the women try to unlock the secrets of the past, they battle their growing feelings for one another ~ feelings that neither one of them is prepared to deal with, but which, in the end, neither of them can deny. Will Sidney be able let down her guard as noble protector of Briarcrest? Will Trinn let go of living up to other people's expectations and express her true feelings for Sidney?
BOOK REVIEW:
“The Heart's Longing” is a captivating novel which will appeal to readers who love time travel romance and historical fiction combined with contemporary adventure and action. The writing is stylish and smooth, propelling us into the multiple adventurous plots before we realize it. Author Anna Furtado has taken us by the hand and drawn us in, and we immediately become part of the story, close observers of the action, empathetic with the characters and cheering them on as we hope for the achievement of their dreams.
Ms. Furtado gently balances her counterpart characters, one on each side of the Big Pond: Trinn is an accomplished Boston pastry chef in a job she ought to love but instead despises because of the restaurant hierarchy's back-biting, a woman who unbeknownst to herself holds a significant key to a time-honored mystery passed on through her father's line. Deeply in debt due to her ex-girlfriend, at wit's end yet determined to struggle through despite her continuing job crises and bewildering dreams, she is astonished and discomfited to find her life linked to a London solicitor, Sidney Wycombe, another woman strongly tied to the mystery of Briarcrest.
Escalating suspense and interwoven layers of mystery create a hook that leaves readers engrossed and turning pages to the next major discovery. Gently erotic sensuality, laden with emotion, scented with romance, "The Heart's Longing" provides a wonderfully captivating reading experience. Although this volume is book three in the series, it works fine as a stand-alone novel, though you will be inspired to check out the first two books as well.
