BOOK REVIEW:
Ms. Thompson has hit on a wonderful idea of basing a series of stories around a group of people who are given another chance to re-explore a previous love. Refinding a lost relationship is not a new plot device, but to make it the stated aim in each book of a series of stories intrigues me. And to offer the first story free of charge is a master-stroke of marketing.

I was left dizzy with the introduction of so many characters in such a short space of time. I instantly forgot who most of them were, but I’m sure I’ll be given reminders when those characters become important. Eric was the solitary knight in the spotlight for this first story. It wasn’t very easy to like Eric. He abandoned Chandler, didn’t answer his letters. Eric was young at the time, but this doesn’t exactly let him off the hook. He redeems himself somewhat when he repents his earlier behaviour and goes about finding Chandler.

I really liked the reunion, but while it certainly didn’t go as Eric hoped, I think it went as Eric deserved however. The short passage of time from this to the inevitable ending was very well handled. Chandler’s reactions, thoughts, and feelings were spot on. I even began to feel sorry for Eric, even though I didn’t want to.
