BOOK BLURB:
Paralegal Seth Bellski is tired of being the secret lover of his boss, Lars Varga, founding partner of Finch & Varga Law. So when he asks Lars to spend Hanukkah with Seth's family at their kosher B and B in Whistler, B.C., and Lars refuses, Seth realizes he will never get his self-conscious boss out of the closet.

So Seth prepares to spend his Hanukkah holiday alone in the B and B. Instead he finds himself running the place, as his aunt and uncle are missing, and seven demanding, peculiar, and danger-prone guests have arrived. To make matters worse, Lars shows up, begging forgiveness. Lars's touches remind Seth of why he put up with his boss's behavior in the first place. If only the words that came out of that beautiful mouth were as sweet as his kisses.

But how can Seth find time to fix his broken relationship when the guests are demanding kosher, gluten-free diets, losing their pet terriers, and hitting their heads on the ice? Seth and Lars find themselves put through the paces of being a married couple, all while still broken up. But then again, if they can survive this Hanukkah, maybe they'll be singing a carol of the Bellskis.

BOOK REVIEW:
Seth Bellski has loved his boss, Lars Varga, for over a year and although Lars professes his love for Seth theirs is a secret affair. As the months go by and Lars continues to hide their relationship Seth becomes more and more dissatisfied at being Lars 'dirty little secret.' When Lars goes back on his promise to accompany him to his family's Bed and Breakfast Seth sees no choice but to break it off with Lars.

When Seth arrives at the B and B he finds his Aunt and Uncle missing and within a few hours Seth has seven guests to care for and an inn to run by himself. Just when he thinks things can't get more complicated Lars shows up wanting a second chance. Seth's Hanukkah keeps going down hill as the situation with the guests and Lars gets more and more complicated and no word is heard from his missing relatives.

This novella, 100 pages long, was an interesting and engaging story. Seth and Lars are well written and although at first Lars appears to be an unlikable character he soon proves to be far from that. His refusal to come out of the closet is hard to understand at first given that he's a partner in a successful law office and his treatment of Seth sometimes can be hurtful. But by the end of the story Lars is doing his best to be open about his relationship with Seth and it's obvious that he's grown during his days at the B and B.

Seth for his part is a really nice guy. He's a hardworking paralegal in Lars' firm and he's totally in love with Lars but finally determined to make a clean but painful break from his lover/boss. Overwhelmed with the responsibility for the inn and guests he's forced to accept help from Lars and by working together they both get a second chance at love.

The guests at the B and B are a fun and interesting mix of characters and added a bit of humor to the story. As for the mystery of Seth's Aunt and Uncle's disappearance it's wrapped up rather quickly although a bit unbelievably and an unexpected visit by Lars' partner gives him the perfect opportunity to show Seth that he has indeed changed. Although they both felt a bit contrived they were minor issues that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story.

Overall this was a very nice story. Definitely well written with some interesting and diverse characters it's an easy and fun book to read. Seth and Lars are obviously head over heels for each other and although their romantic relationship is in trouble for most of the book their physical relationship is not. The sex scenes in the book are hot but don't overpower the storyline at all. Astrid Amara has written another excellent book that I'm not at all hesitant to recommend. I think you'll enjoy it as I did.
