BOOK BLURB:
Jory Keyes is doing his best to get over Detective Sam Kage, who broke his heart. Fearful of coming out of the closet, Sam intended to marry and uphold the status quo.
After testifying against the man he saw commit cold-blooded murder, Jory is sure he and the detective will never cross paths again. But fate has other plans. Between Sam’s job and Jory being openly gay and on the run from hired killers, the path to true love has never been rockier. When Jory is kidnapped, the culprit is someone no one ever suspected.
BOOK REVIEW:
With one novella flowing easily into the next, book 2 of "A Matter of Time" picks up the day after Jory has faced another attempted snatch by the killers. The fact that these stories started out as one larger book means that the reader will never have that disconnected feeling that sometimes occurs with a series. It also means that it is necessary to read the books in order. With this installment we get to see the growing relationships within Jory's life. As he tries to keep his mind off Sam, Jory now has plenty of time to get mixed up in his boss' life. The new dimensions within the relationship between Jory and Dane leads to some snappy dialog, as well as showcases Dane in a new light, making him just as powerful a character as Sam. There is also the introduction of many new characters, and of course new struggles for both Jory and Sam to work through. And I must admit that due to his attitude there was more than one time where I wanted to smack Sam upside the head. However, I have to say the scene in which Sam is trying to get Jory to eat was one of my favorites.
Just as the reader begins to believe that things may be working out for our couple, the author throws in a twist that will leave the reader on pins and needles. This is one series that keeps getting better and once all four books have come out I will be reading it over from the beginning.
