BOOK BLURB:
Sexual "coming of age" in Times Square in the 1950's-1960's of a very young immigrant boy.

BOOK REVIEW:
A short novella on “coming of age” sexually in the context of Manhattan’s Times Square, Times Queer is graphically detailed but short on character evolution. The print edition includes an “Afterword” by the book’s editor/publisher Sally Miller which I found more enlightening than the semi-autobiographical story itself. The ebook version is illustrated.

“Ricky” is an immigrant child in the Times Square area in the 1950’s, where he inadvertently discovers sexual pleasuring on a subway car, despite his parents’ presence nearby. This event seems to turn him into an auto-enthusiastic, and he becomes a quantity-driven self-pleasurer. Eventually he relates to both males and females, but he has difficulty coming to terms with the idea that a female could want more from him than simply his own release.

I found the character of the narrator “Ricky” rather self-serving and really out of touch with other individuals, both emotionally and sexually. Graphically, the story is heavy on background details and highly-plotted.
