BOOK REVIEW:
A highly-detailed background of Hollywood television production, "Turning Point" showcases two fellow cast members of an ongoing series, Time Trails. Brenna Lanigan, mother of two fine adolescent sons, plays Captain Jakes, a cold, calculating, and remote leader. Cassidy Hyland appears to be the stereotypical “blonde bimbo,” but instead she is a devoted mother to a five-year-old son, and single mom harassed by a controlling ex.
Brenna and Cassidy both conceal domestic difficulties and personality conflicts, but each suspects the other of being uncaring and aloof. Eventually circumstances throw them together and out of politeness Brenna begins to unbend enough to witness Cassidy’s commitment to her child. Before long, dire events will tie them together in friendship, and the foundation for romance is built.
"Turning Point" is heavy on the Hollywood television background, and readers will learn much about it. The characterizations are well done, and the author shows the back stories of her characters well. Readers expecting a steamy sensuality however will not find it in this novel, which focuses on the characters and their evolution rather than on sexuality.
