BOOK REVIEW:
When Caleb's boyfriend leaves him he finds himself alone and without many friends. After drinking too much one night at a club he wakes up the next morning at the home of a musician named Jason that he has seen at the club a few times. Jason is understanding of Caleb's situation and introduces him to his friend Scott when Scott stops by. Caleb starts to spend more time with Jason and Scott and their group of friends and after a while he also meets Scott's lover Chris. As he grows closer to Scott and Chris he realizes that he's developing an interest in both men and is surprised to find they are also interested in him. Very hesitant at first to act on their attraction the trio eventually decide to see where a relationship between the three of them might take them.
Caleb, Scott and Chris are friends for quite a while before things turn romantic and that made the story very realistic. The fact that they were hesitant and only after much thought did they act on their feelings also helped to make this story different from most menage books. After they came together they were quite careful in sharing their new status but as time passed friends and family began to find out. This created not only confusion but also conflict as not everyone was approving.
Another thing that added a bit of conflict to the story was the fact that Chris is very possessive of his lovers. In fact his friends were at times more surprised that Chris was sharing Scott with Caleb than the fact that they were all in a relationship. Caleb's job as a fashion photographer taking him across country for weeks at a time also added to the storyline. All the different areas of concern and conflict combined into a really good story. I loved the progression of their relationship, from friends to lovers and eventually to acknowledging their love to themselves and their friends and family.
Separately and together Chris, Scott and Caleb were wonderful characters. I enjoyed seeing the differences between their personalities and how they were able to mesh together to create a bond that included all three of them equally. The many secondary characters in the story were a good addition and all in their own way added to my overall enjoyment of the story.
Overall this novel, 232 pages long, is a wonderfully entertaining story. It's very well written including the sex scenes. The characters are engaging and I really liked the development of their relationship. This is a book that will go on my keeper shelf and I know I'll enjoy reading it as much the next time as I did now. I recommend it to anyone who likes a well written love story. Those who may not be fans of menage stories may still want to check this one out. Bottom line this is a story about falling in love and making a relationship work and the fact that it's between three people instead of two shouldn't keep you from reading this really lovely book.
