BOOK BLURB:
A gunshot wound isn't enough to slow down Detective Patrick Hawkins, so his friends conspire to ship him off to visit his best friend and ex-lover, Dr. Julian Piet, for some forced recovery time. If only Julian and his new boyfriend weren't so disgustingly cute all the time, Patrick might actually have a chance to enjoy himself.

Enter Brad Wilde, Alberta's hottest bartender. Brad might be inexperienced and shy by nature, but that doesn't stop the sparks from flying between them. But Patrick is used to casual flings and one-night stands, and he's not quite sure what to do about his attraction to Brad.

All of Patrick's doubts seem trivial when Julian's neighbor's child goes missing and the whole town mobilizes to find her. When the search for Hallie turns up a decomposing body, the police begin to fear they'll never find her alive. As Brad and Patrick try to help, they will have to overcome the physical and emotional distance between them to have any hope of finding Hallie before she falls victim to the same fate as the mysterious corpse.

BOOK REVIEW:
Detective Patrick Hawkins has been shot in the line of duty. He’s a terrible patient. He’s stubborn and irritated so Patrick’s friend Cameron sends him to their mutual friend Dr. Julian Piet’s home where Julian and his boyfriend Jack will help him as he recovers.

While Patrick’s medical needs are being met, he has emotional wounds that are still raw, especially where Julian is concerned. Julian and Patrick were lovers once, and even though Julian has moved on and is in a good relationship with Jack, there are some unresolved feelings between Julian and Patrick.

When Patrick meets local bartender Brad Wilde, maybe Patrick will finally be able to move on and get over Julian. Helping to solve a little girl’s disappearance changes all of their relationships, but it doesn’t necessarily make things better. Insecurity, emotion, and fear may keep Patrick from taking what Brad has to give.

The tension between Julian and Patrick both sexually and emotionally is intense and almost heart breaking in Wild Angels. The lines of friendship get blurred a time or two as they both try to understand the new dynamics of their relationship. When the boundaries get crossed and feelings get hurt, I felt badly for both of them, but at the same time, I wanted to smack them both upside the head for being foolish enough to act on things better left alone.

I was surprised by Jack’s acceptance of certain things and even more so by his participation in others. I was holding my breathe as I waited to see what would happen with Brad afterwards. Brad is a sweet guy who is very eager for Patrick’s affection and attention. He is not a push over though. Relationships both new and old, missing little girls, and new beginnings make Wild Angels a very moving, thought provoking, and well written story full of tension and angst.
