BOOK BLURB:
When Aranion, prince of Yshan and officer in the Queen's Navy, is given a singer for the winter solstice, he neither needs nor wants the young man. But when circumstances throw them together, Aranion finds himself attracted to the shyly charming Melan. And when a disaster at sea threatens to drive them apart, Aranion may have to sacrifice all to get his nightingale back.
BOOK REVIEW:
Author L. E. Bryce was new to me and since the blurb for Nightingale sounded so good I was looking forward to reading this story. I was not disappointed. I loved the characters of Aranion and Melan. One is a strong military leader and prince, while the other a mute slave who can only speak when he sings. It is easy to see that these two belong together from the very beginning and that Melan brings a balance into Aranion's life that is sorely needed.
As the author wove the story, I kept waiting for the other shoe to fall and when it did it added a whole new layer to this story, one that brings personal growth to both men. While I enjoyed this story, the world in which it takes place was a little distracting and at times I felt as if there was something I was missing. Rather than detract from the story, it made me want to see if there were other stories to go along with this one. I will definitely be reading more of this authors work.
