BOOK BLURB:
Alex and Julianne have a very loving D/s relationship. When Alex becomes pre-occupied with her work, it almost escapes her notice that Julianne is spiraling out of control. Almost. But before it’s too late, Alex comes to her senses, and, with a little pain and a lot of pleasure, she sets about bringing her beloved pet back from the edge.
BOOK REVIEW:
This quick, hot short story by Cassidy Ryan is a prime example of why I like to read everything she writes. First of all, it's beautifully edited. You never get dropped out of the story by a misspelled word or bad grammar. Second of all, she writes in a compact, elegant style. And third, and most importantly, she is an expert at developing character. After only sixteen pages, I *knew* Alex and Julianne. It doesn't get much better than that.
In “Letting Go,” Julianne is having a bad day at work. After an argument with her boss (who is what I can only call a 'male chauvinist pig'), she's terse with her lover Alex on the phone. As it turns out, Alex is not only Julianne's lover, but also her Mistress, and she knows that Julianne is on the edge. Alex knows exactly how to bring Julianne back from that edge, with pain, restraint and also with pleasure.
The BDSM in this short story is beautifully done, hot, erotic and real. The only thing that bothers me about this story is that Julianne appears to have let her boss get away with promoting a man because a woman ‘might get pregnant.’ After relaxing and being centered by sexy Alex, I can only hope that Julianne goes back to the office the next day and either wins her battle or kicks him in the butt and quits her job. That said, it's clear from my reaction that this story captured my imagination, and I think you should rush out and buy a copy, because I think it will capture yours!
