BOOK BLURB:
After serving time for violating the Android Fair Usage Act, Rye "Silk" Pecatti is hell bent on locating and reacquainting himself with his super android, Chal. Chal was created to learn and to retain human emotions, but Rye never figured in the "will factor." With an android that's learned to bargain his way through life, enterprising takes on a whole new meaning, and Rye discovers that yielding control to his creation may be the only way to truly fulfill both their needs.

BOOK REVIEW:
This short foray into a futuristic sci-fi world of androids and humans is very interesting. The beginning world building was well done but tapered off quickly as the human element began to take over.

Chal, a memory wiped and discarded sex android, finds that he is more evolved then his counterparts. Silk fascinates him and he doesn’t know why. Rye is the answer. However, it’s not the answer they both need to figure out, but instead the right question.

The battle for reconnection and recognition between an android that is only coming to recognize feelings and a human who avoids recognizing his feelings is well done. At times what each needs is just vague enough to drive the reader to distraction while driving home the frustration Chal and Rye are experiencing. They are both in denial about what they really need as well. The BDSM elements continue to shift through out the story until “silk” represents both the delicate and the strength between the two main characters.

All in all, this was a riveting and interesting story. As with many shorter stories, this would have benefited from a wider view and longer protracted reconnection to further balance the main characters. The premise of creationism and intent is one that could be exploited fully in a story of this type and wasn’t. Still it was a sci-fi twisted tale to fire the imagination.
