BOOK BLURB:
SEAL candidates Cooper Fitch and Eli Jones are cut off from the outside world and pushed to their physical and mental limits by the demands of the Navy's elite training program. Their reliance on each other takes an unexpected turn after Hell Week, the most grueling stretch of basic conditioning, when Cooper and Eli surrender to passion fueled by fatigue, horniness, and alcohol. Despite the danger of being discovered, their intense attraction begins to feel like a natural extension of living, working, and training side by side, and neither is willing to give it up, no matter the risk.

BOOK REVIEW:
I am always up for reading about SEALs, so I was delighted to find this new book by Janey Chapel. When I saw the title, I mistakenly thought it was a historical (somehow despite the literal definition, I don't associate the adjective 'maritime' with current day navy hunks), but instead I found Cooper and Eli. And what a find they are!

Cooper Fitch and Eli Jones and their buddies have made it through Hell Week through a system of mutual support. Although there are plenty of gorgeous female SEAL-groupies around, Cooper and Eli begin to occasionally find solace in each other, dangerous and forbidden though that may be.

Janey Chapel has done an especially nice job of drawing her characters. Even the secondary characters are colorfully described. She draws us inexorably into the intense, emotional, exhausting world of SEAL training, which we see through the eyes of men who not only have their personal goals firmly set, but who can see that the success of the team is the ultimate prize.

This is a realistic book; the descriptions of SEAL training read true. Not everyone is perfect. It says a lot about the attraction between Cooper and Eli that they are willing to endanger their status in the military. In all of their encounters there is the subtext of fear of discovery, and that's exciting in itself.

If you like fiction set in a military setting, I definitely recommend Maritime Men. And I'm hoping we will see more about Cooper and Eli!
