BOOK BLURB:
Finding a satyr caged in a carnival sideshow horrifies Travis and Cembran and forces them to make a daring rescue. A captive for decades, the wild, animalistic satyr named Vauk quickly vanishes into the wilderness on Travis and Cembran's property in search of safety and solitude.

The next summer, Travis and Cembran invite a new friend, Trent, to attend the Bacchanal. What they don't expect is for Trent to reach out to the abused satyr, much less for the reclusive Vauk to accept his attention. Trent forges a connection between them, and Vauk's human side starts to emerge as he learns about the modern world. Trent teaches Vauk how to communicate, how to cloak his satyr features, and most importantly, how to love.

Those skills will be crucial for Vauk's survival, especially when Vauk's captors and his unknown past threaten him and everyone he loves.

BOOK REVIEW:
"Thursday's Child" by Andrew Grey is an enjoyable fantasy story. The main characters are satyrs, and, as such, are connected to the earth so the whole "Mother Earth loving, granola, whole wheat" kind of vibe throughout actually works instead of annoys. I really liked that not only are they respectful of the earth, in a non-preachy way, they also embrace a range of sexualities that are portrayed as healthy and natural.

The plot was very engaging. It focused more on self-awareness and healing rather than the typical evil ex-boyfriend or stalker type conflicts. The writing is strong with wonderful use of language and structure.

The variety of characters is excellent. Cembran and Travis are the main couple that anchor the story with their deep love, good humor, and monogamous passion for each other. There is also a threesome of young men, Dovino, Phillip, and Jeremy that are best friends and lovers. Vauk is a Satyr who has been tortured and held in captivity so long that he may be unable to remember his human nature. Having never met another satyr, Trent, who is half human and half satyr, believes himself to be completely alone. These and other characters come together to form an interesting world with a few twists and turns.

I don't want to say too much, as the experience of discovery of this beautiful world is so refreshing, and I don't want to diminish that. I will say that I found this a perfect read after a stressful, chaotic day. I highly recommend it!
