BOOK BLURB:
On the outs with his lover, author Gabriel Black retreats to work on a new book at his Alaskan hideaway, where he expects peace and quiet ... instead Gabriel gets shock and surprise when an intruder breaks in and takes him hostage. His captor, Ethan, is far too handsome for Gabriel's own good, and Gabriel decides that the best way to get free is to seduce his captor. The question is: Will he enjoy it too much to want to escape if Ethan gives in?
BOOK REVIEW:
If you've ever seen the Australian film "Restraint," starring the infinitely hot Stephen Moyer, then you no doubt remember it as crackling with homoerotic sexual tension between a violent criminal and his house-bound captive. In "Captive," Scarlett Blackwell has distilled the tension and danger into a tightly woven, suspenseful guy-dominates-guy tale. "Captive" has a much happier ending than the film, though.
Green-eyes, crow-black hair, a day's worth of black beard stubble, pink lips designed for action, and soft, flawless skin so pale it's almost blue-white: Ethan would be picture-perfect if it weren't for the fact that he's holding a gun to Gabriel's head, keeping Gabriel a prison in his remote Alaskan writer's cabin. Ethan is desperate, Gabriel is terrified, and the dialogue between them glistens with adrenaline and testosterone. More to the point, the sexual chemistry is palpable, as when Gabriel smells his cologne on Ethan and likes it better than he's ever liked it on himself. When Gabriel decides to seduce Ethan, you just know the highly sensual Ethan will give in to some of Gabriel's charms. But will it be enough to save Gabriel's life?
Blackwell slowly turns up the heat until the reader is smoldering, but the darkness never overwhelms the sweat-inducing lust. "Captive" is perfectly balanced male-male BDSM, a scorching and highly satisfying read.
